Rusts, mauves, ochre, olive green, sap green and sky blue are the many vibrant colors in this original oil painting. This is an oil painting of a quiet, desert hiking canyon out in Palm Springs, California. In reality this scene has dull grey foliage but using my artistic license I exaggerated the hints of color the sun created on this desert landscape. The thick paint in this painting gives the work a texted feel…it feels like the scrubby foliage. The meandering trail leading back to the distant blue-gray mountains makes the viewer experience the scene for themselves.
